The Membership Card

The Litulla Membership Card is a program that gives members access to exclusive perks and offers at a wide selection of indie bookshops around the world.

The goal of this program is to not only encourage readers to visit small businesses more often and find new customers and fans for those businesses, but to also create a global network of book lovers and book sellers.

I want this project to be a way for readers and small businesses to connect and grow together.

please keep in mind that this project is a work in progress, so these FAQ might change slightly

FAQ

I'm a reader. How does it work?

You purchase your card once and you’re a member forever. No membership fees, no renovation fees, that’s it.

Then all you have to do is show it every time you purchase something at one of the partner bookshops. You can check out the directory of partners, offers and challenges, which I will keep updated, here.

Do you ship worldwide?

Yes!

Can I use the card online?

Yes; we're slowly building our list of online partners here.

As a member, what kind of perks do I get?

It depends on the bookshop, but so far, we've got partners offering 5, 10, 15% off on all books, free speciality coffees if you purchase 2 books or more, exclusive bookmarks and more! Bookshops are free to choose what they want to offer.

As a member of the program, you'll also get access to fun stuff like challenges, giveaways and member-exclusive events. I will be adding new perks to the program all the time, so you can keep up with what's available here.

I'm a bookshop owner. Why should I join?

As a partner, you get access to an international community of readers who is excited to visit and support your store.

How it works

Being a partner is free, and there won’t be any comissions taken. Bookshops simply have to fill in the form above to apply, and then it’s totally up to you as a business to decide what kind of perks to offer. While discounts are encouraged, they're not at all mandatory; I know indies often have very small margins, and discounts might not be possible. If that's the case, I'm happy to help you brainstorm to figure out what kind of value you could offer! It could be as simple as a free cup of tea, double punches on your rewards card, or a monthly newsletter with staff picks.

These perks and offers are permanent, meaning that every time a customer shows their card, they receive the perks. Bookstores are free to join the program for three months, and either choose to stay, change their offers or drop out after that.

If a bookstore has their own loyalty program already, that’s totally fine and shouldn’t be in conflict with this project.
